why does a mans penis stands upright when they are are attracted towards women?

The sexes are attracted to one another for the reason of procreation. In order to procreate, the penis needs to be erect in order for it to be efficiently inserted into the vagina to make its deposit.

Hormones particularly testosterone and dopamine take effect causing the erectile tissue to fill with blood from the arteries. As the tissue fills, the increasing pressure seals off the veins that drain the penis causing it to engorge with blood.
