Fireworks characterize GM Debate in IndiaWho actually vandalizes genetically modified crops under field trials? I ask this question because I have not heard of a scientific researcher being convicted of this heinous crime. It's anti-technology activists, with very little knowledge of the science behind genetically modified crops, who interfere with the work of scientists.
Personally, I detest them because apart from sweeping statements that genetically modified foods can harm the health of consumers, they lack any other justification for their behavior. They dwell on lies and propaganda. They fancy instilling fear in the public about genetically modified foods. Among the countries where this habit is prevalent, India is perhaps the most affected. As Dr. Dr. C Kameswara Rao writes in his blog, Foundation for Biotechnology Awareness and Education (FBAE), anti-technology activists have no reason to oppose genetically modified foods. Unlike anti-technology activists, Dr. Rao justfies, blow by blow, why genetically modified crops don't pose any risk to human beings or the environment. Dr. Rao's latest blog entries on this topic can be found at the following links: http://www.fbaeblog.org/2006/12/genetic ... 2.htm#more http://www.fbaeblog.org/2006/12/genetic ... 2.htm#more http://www.fbaeblog.org/2006/12/genetic ... d.htm#more
