Genetic engineering

This is the 1st time I visit zoology site in Bio-online...well, the first thing is saying hello to all of you...Um, is it possible4 to make a genetic engineering (example like making a recombinant gene) between two different species but they are in the same genus? Example like combining cheetah and leopard by using genetic engeneering.

yes it is possible there are cases where tizers have been crossed with lions causing a mutant animal.

Usually, genitic engineering creates mutant organisms. In this case, there's always problem with their gene. is there any problems of the liger's genetic engineering such as liger is a sterile organism or there's any failed organs inside their body because of the mutation?

Male ligers are sterile however female ligers are fertile (most of the time). Recombination of genes in nature does screw up gene bases, normally for the worse. However in science labs gene engerniering as realtively safe effects. Most of the plants and animals we eat have been safely engerniered for our stomaches.
