Can somebody answer my question???????I have always wondered this but never gotten around to asking it, do fish sleep? And if they do, do they close their eyes, and do they even have eyelids?????
depends on what kinds of fish. most sharks have to keep moving at all times so they do not sleep. their brain has a mechanism that allows their hemispheres to rest one at a time.
(what a coincidence, i read that like 5 minutes ago) "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I want to understand the universe and answer the big questions, that is what keeps me going" - Stephen Hawking
When you read "most sharks," remember that it translates to "most pelagic sharks," which are the sexy ones. There are lots of benthic sharks which have pumping gills and don't need to keep moving. No idea how they sleep, though.
Fishes don't have eyelids, they can't close their eyes. I see some fishes are stop moving, just stay calm in their shelter. It is believed as the time for them for resting.
For instance, my lovely seahorses, they "go home" when it is getting dark and stay there til th next day when the sun is going to shine again ![]()
I wish I didn't sleep.
Generally speaking, the more people talk about "being saved," the further away they actually are from true salvation.

I would think they would have a "resting state" like Dr Stein said where they lower their metabolism, but not like the sleep we do, because they would need to keep their gills ventilated right? and i know not all of them are able to ventilate them by just flappnig their gills.
