Microbial breakdown of Cyanide in gold mine tailing dams

I recently started working on isolation of organisms and optimization of a process to degrade significant ammounts of cyanide contained in gold mine effluent.

I was wondering if a solid medium exists that could help to speed the process of identifying which bacteria have the ability to degrade cyanide, either by a colour change or some other easily detirmened qualitative change.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated by myself and the students helping with this project.
