Green Mosquito===Photos Available

Postby sachin » Sat Oct 28, 2006 10:15 am

I ve found a Green Mosquito. in my house.

2mm in lenght. Male(identified from its antena).

No record of Green mosquito in INDIA.

Some say its a mutant but rare. No evidence in Asia.

But its like green anopheles.

Help me to find what it is.

I have preserved it in 1:1 alcohol:glycerin.

I need more samples to study them.
If you have samples then please contact me on : sachinvch@gmail.com

Culex nigripalpus

Postby honee_v » Thu Nov 09, 2006 1:58 am

is it somethin lyk this?...
http://eis.ifas.ufl.edu/imgs/cnigF2.jpg (from http://eis.ifas.ufl.edu/cnig.htm)

its a Culex sp., with blue-green highlights in abdomen and legs... but this one (Culex nigripalpus) is common in Florida (not in India, afaik)... but beware, dis sp. is a vector of SLE virus...
