Several basic questions concerning DNA..urgent:)Hello..
I've got several questions concerning DNA, and I have to know the answers until tomorrow.I'd appreciate any help. The questions are following each other in a chronological order: 1) what's the basics order in the mRNA of the following DNA part, taken from a certain gene: 3' TAC CTT CAG CGT 5'? 2)what's the anti codone that connects to the second codone in the chain? 3)how many amino acids the peptide has right after he was created from that order? 4)the fourth amino acid in this polypeptide is...? *Answers supplied with a logical reason and explanation would be even better. Thanks.
Re: Several basic questions concerning DNA..urgent:)
1) 5’-AUG GAA GUC GCA-3’ cause A->U, G->C, C->G, T->A and 5’ 3’ cause strand is transcribed antiparalel 2)CUU 3) 4 cause there are 4 codons(none stop codon(UAA,UAG,UGA) 4) Look into the genetic code- Ala(cause GCA->Ala) maybe with some mistakes but
replyI appreciate it the fast and nice reply;)
One thing though..on question 4, what do you mean by ala? you mean alanine? The 3 first answers seem to be alright, though i hope you're right. If I may, 3 more questions i'm not sure about: The distance between gene A to B is 4, A to C is 14, B to C is 10. what's the order of the genes on the chromosome? 2)(a tough one) what's the proportion of homozygote recessive breedings in a self hybrid of a certain planet, which is hytrozygote to 3 mendalic properties? 3)microtobules connect to the centrometers...when? during mitosis? miosis I? miosis II? can be more than 1.. Thanks.
Yes, ala is alanine.
1) Simple math question: 10+4=14 so you got gene A, next B then C 2)Explain please, i do not understand your question 3)All of them "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Re: Several basic questions concerning DNA..urgent:)
The anti codon that would correspond with the second codon in the mRNA sequence would be; CUU No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong.
-Albert Einstein
Actually i was refering to this 2)
"As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
replyThanks.
Concerning the first question, i figured it is so. But is the answer C B A identical to A B C in terms of the genes order on the chromosome? About the second one, can you be more specific about what's unclear you? clearly it is based on some terms you have to be familiar with, but what part didn't you understand? The question asks you for the proportion under the given data..it can be 1/8, 1/64 etc. I believe it's 1/16 but i'm not sure. Are you sur it happens in all of the processes, in the 3rd question? 1 more, if you enjoy it 1)what's the chromosomes situation in a cell that has two pairs of homologic chrosomes, during metaphase II of the miosis, and what is the chromosomes situation in the gametes?
Re: reply[1)what's the chromosomes situation in a cell that has two pairs of homologic chrosomes, during metaphase II of the miosis, and what is the chromosomes situation in the gametes?
Cause there are 2(each with 2 chromatids) homol. chromosomes in metaphase II->there are 4 homol. chrom in cell and 2 (each with 1 chromatid)in gamet. hope I'm right.
ReplyI'm afariad you misunderstood my question.
I meant that the original cell has two pairs of homologic chromosmes in the beginning. What is the situation of the chromosomes during metaphase II and what is their situation in the gametes? 2)When do the microtobules connect to the centrometers?Is it positive that in the mitosis, as well as in the miosis I and II? 3)In the genes order question, is the order of A B C of the genes on the chromsomes identical to C B A or is different? 4)What is the proportion of homozygote recessive breedings, in a self hybrid of a planet, which is(the planet) hytrozygote to 3 mendalic properties? 5)A pumpkin's weight is decided by two genes. Each allel of gene presented by a big letter, donates 2 kilograms, small letter-donates 1 kilogram. Genotype AABB esults in 8 kilo, aabb in 4 kilo.. In a hybrid of a hetrozygote with a recessive homozyogte, what will be the proprion and weights of the fruits? Please answer within the next xouple of hours.thanks.enjoy!
