HI! Organism cloning: Nucleus is thrown out from unfertilized egg and then the nucleus from somatic cell of donor is thrown into the egg.
Protein cloning: You must first know the gene that encodes thata protein then you construct restrictions enzymes. Enzymes will cut that gene.Then you need vectors(ex plasmids from bacteria).Vector DNA(plasmids in this case and donor gene are cut with same enzyme(enzyme must leave sticky ends-one strand fragments of DNA).Then that gene is thrown into a vector DNA.(sticky ends are “glued” together). Then you insert that vector-plasmid in this case into a bacterium(transformation).Not all bacteria will be transformed so you must have probe.Probe is resistance transformed bacteria to specific antibiotic.I forgot to tell you that your insert plasmids must have also gene that “carry” resistence to specific antibiotic into bacteria.Then transformed bacteria have resistance and they live.Now that bacteria have the gene that encodes your specific protein and they make it. That’s how insulin is made these days…

A cell, group of cells, or organism that is descended from and genetically identical to a single common ancestor, such as a bacterial colony whose members arose from a single original cell.

An organism descended asexually from a single ancestor, such as a plant produced by layering or a polyp produced by budding.

A DNA sequence, such as a gene, that is transferred from one organism to another and replicated by genetic engineering techniques.

One that copies or closely resembles another, as in appearance or function: “filled with business-school clones in gray and blue suits” (Michael M. Thomas).

So anything that is decended solely from an original ancestor is a clone.
Gardeners have been cloning for centuries, Bacteria for millions of years

These days though it tends to be used to mean molecular biological means of cloning.
