Well I read a book that was talking about the xq28 "Gay Gene" of the 90s. The author described the gene as recessive X-linked. When present in the female, it helps her reproduction, but when present in the male, it causes him to become gay. I think this relied on the observation that when an identicle twin is gay, the other twin is gay 70% of the time.

Did you hear about a mummy that has been dig up form the snow in the Alps? It was a male mummy with the human viable!!! semen in his rectum. How did it get there?! I don`t remember exact dating for the mummy but it is something old, stone age or earlier.

I really question the validity of homosexual animal observations. I tend to think theres alot of anthropromophising(sp) going on. Humans have alot of other things involved in their sexual behavior than animals do. Its more than likely a dominance issue with animals than a sexual desire. If ever there was a 'gay' gene in animals it would have long since selected itself out of the pool. And as far as the 'gay' gene in humans...the flaw with that example that if one twin is gay then the other is 70% likely to be gay is that twins are generally exposed to the same environmental effects so it'd be awful hard to determine nature vs. nurture on that one.

just a thought. if a guy consumes--say chicken, that has high hormonal levels (the hormones that causes chickens lay more eggs for a shorter period of time), do the hormones pass on to you and make you gay? is that possible? it sounds silly.

Giving the benefit of the doubt that this might be true...these hormones would be spent and excreted within a day or so. Unless you eat the same hormonally-enhanced chicken everyday, then this would not work.

I saw a documentary once that said that humans and dolphins are the only animal that have sex for fun. Therefore they are the only animals which could be gay. This talk about gay animals reminds me of "Legally blond 2"-not such a great movie from this point of view: it featured a gay dog.
About those hormons: i doubt they will work because they will be digested into aminos in the digestive tube

there is not enough evidence to suggest that hormone levels have anything to do with ones sexual orientation. apparently we're more complex than mice and rats hahahah...

for an example, we know that testosterone will make one more "macho", will encourage a more masculine appearance and more "male" behaviour, but there is no significant correlation between sexual preferance and the amount of testosterone circulating in your blood.

also, im not sure i like the idea of homosexuality having genetic foundations, because....
well... how do you pass a "homosexual" gene to your child if, frankly, homosexuals can NOT reproduce?

id imagine that youd be more likely to become homosexual if your parents are, but that is entirely based on upbringing (hence, an environmental factor) rather than genetics.

but heres an interesting idea:

there have been studies that suggest that men and women of different sexual orientations respond differently to oestrogen. hetero women respond by producing copious(SP?) amounts of luteinizing hormone, whereas men do not. HOMOSEXUAL men, however, responded more like women, as if they have a more "Feminine" hypothalamus what's even more confusing, is that Lesbians (who would be expected to have a more "male" response) produce EVEN MORE LH than heterosexual women!!

something to think about... ill look into it a little more.

i disagree with the following, but the idea with the "gay gene" is that it is similiar to those genes responsible for sickle-cell anaemia. eg. you require a gene from both parents. so without a "full dose" of the genes, you can not become homosexual.
