Point and Location of Human FertilizationMy biology prof and I are engaged in a heated debate:
Does conception/fertilization occur while the egg is still in the fallopian tube or after it descends into the uterus?
I can say that fertilization occurs when the egg is still in the fallopian tube because the descending to uterus would only happen when zygote is going to the implantation stage.
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
agrees with this answer.
I have read on the internet ( I don't remember exactly which website) that one of requisite of the human fertilization is : sperms must meet egg at one-third of the fallopian tube, because egg just can be fertilized in not more than 24 hours. But it takes the egg 72 hours to reach the uterus. So the fertilization must occurs when egg is still in the fallopian tube.
Victor, but egg also descend during menstration if not fertilized.
