I have a coursework about cell division in root tips.
My question is, how does phosphate effect the cell division in root tips ? And is there a relationship between the concentration of phosphate ions in nutrient solutions and the number of cells deviding by mitosis in rot tips ?

Yes, there is. As it has already been said, phosphate is a component of ATP and ADP, so without it you do not have energy. It is a component of nucleic acids, so without it you do not have cariokinesys. And the fat acids in the cell membrane so without it you do not have citokinesys

phosphorus is a component of sugar phosphate, nucleic acids, nucleotides, coenzymes, phospholipids, phytic acid etc and has a key role in reactions involve ATP. some of these molecules are needed for general cell growth. ATP is invovled in all the energy-requring biochemistry of cells. this includs the chemistry which results in growth as well as nuclei acid synthesis. phosphrous maes up about 0.2% of the dry matter of plants.
DNA replicatin occurs during the S phase of the cell cycle.

i need help on another investigation:
i have to plan an investigation to determine the distribution and abundance of two named species of plant in a specific habitat using quadrats and to determine if this is affectd by the water content of the soil using dry mass calculations.

"Phosphorus (P) is an essential element classified as a macronutrient because of the relatively large amounts of P required by plants. Phosphorus is one of the three nutrients generally added to soils in fertilizers. One of the main roles of P in living organisms is in the transfer of energy. Organic compounds that contain P are used to transfer energy from one reaction to drive another reaction within cells. Adequate P availability for plants stimulates early plant growth and hastens maturity. Although P is essential for plant growth, mismanagement of soil P can pose a threat to water quality. The concentration of P is usually sufficiently low in fresh water so that algae growth is limited. When lakes and rivers are polluted with P, excessive growth of algae often results. High levels of algae reduce water clarity and can lead to decreases in available dissolved oxygen as the algae decays, conditions that can be very detrimental to game fish populations."
