Plant experiment

Postby RayRay » Sun Jun 11, 2006 5:49 pm

I want to do an experiment on plants response to their enviroment.
I don't know the independent variable in the experiment.
Also what type of data should i collect for the experiment.

This is for my science project.

There is a quite a lot of experimental procedure described in this forum about plant transpiration, a good start probably, no?

i think the first thing u should start with is to choose a few plants on which u can concentrate.after that u can study more about them and find out which is the climate that they like...an then u could study what happens if u move the plant from its enviroment into another and see how this effects it :) (hope i was useful)

Your project idea seems very broad because enviroment is very general. You need to focus on one part such as water, sunlight, or soil conditions. Secondly, you can't meaure transpiration without a hydrometer so unless you have access to a very hightech lab I doubt that. You need to establish how are you going to your enviroment? Are you going to measure growth or something else?

I would start there. I assume this is for high-school science?

For my horticulture class I did experiment on salt tolerence.
