actual length and magnification

Hi there,
I'm doing aqa b biology at as level. I was just wondering if any one could proivde me with questions which are spefically about calculating actual length and magnification and image length of organelles. Also, is it always best to keep these in microns?. so convert from cm to mm and then into microns by timesing by a 1000?.
any quick reply to this matter would be kindly appreciated

Okay well I would start with:
How many mm to a micron?
If you need to know orientation:
When you move your slide from right to left which way will the sample move in the objective?
What about up and down?

I would memerize a table of conversions from microns to about meters.
Next always in microns when doing microbiology! ALWAYS!
