What is the source of new nucleotides for replication?Where does the new nucleotides come from in a DNA replication?
Re: What is the source of new nucleotides for replication?
This process occurrs in the nucleus because it has free(I don't know if this may be the right term) nucleotides
De novo synthesisNucleotide = ribose sugar + phosphate + nitrogen base
Of these phospate is readily available in the cytopasm. (i guess) ribose is made by utilising the HMP shunt pathway of glucose breakdown nitrogen bases (purines n pyrimidines) have there own de novo synthetic pathways from simpler components.
You can take ribose and dezoxiribose from food you know...

Actually, nucleotides are used in DNA replication/repair/etc. in a triphosphate form(eg. ATP, CTP, GTP, TTP). These are also used in other cellular processes in addition to DNA uses. Just off the top of my (shaved) head, ATP and GTP are both used to store energy for other processes.
I have also heard of a UTP... it is also used to store energy but that is all i know

Could you find more information about that... Thank-you No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong.

No i can't. When i went to the national olimpic lot i had classes at the biology university and my cellular biology professor told me that but he didn't say anything else. Anyway, it is not important

I don't know much about it but UTP (Uridine triphosphate) is like ATP. It is used as the energy source in polisaccharide synthesis.
I will try to find more but I have no further info for now. It matters not how strait the gate

A molecule which consists of the nitrogenous base uracil linked to the sugar ribose and which has a chain of three phosphate groups attached to the ribose in a linear fashion. UTP is required during transcription since it is a direct precursor of RNA.
I got this from OUR site's dictionary "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I want to understand the universe and answer the big questions, that is what keeps me going" - Stephen Hawking
