Human epithelial cellsI have a practical exam on monday and there are two microscope questions, one is to draw an label a H & E of duodenum tissue and one is to draw a slide of human cheek epithelium.
The things i have to label are villi longitudinal and circular muscle, mucosa and sub mucosa but i cant find a diagram with mucosa and sub mucosa on anywhere so does anyone know what i need to look for? Also what does a cheek cell look like cos ive never seen one of these either. Pleeeeease help me if you can, lots of thanks squawkbox Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

First, let me draw it. If we sort those tunikas from lumen intestinalis to outside, it will be sorted like this: Tunika mucose, tunika submucosa, tunika muscularis and tunika advetitia. Villi longitudinal and circular muscles are located in tunika muscularis with circular muscle located at the inferior side (face to lumen) from longitudinal muscles. Tunika mucosa of villi intestinalis are made up from a layer of columnar epithelial cells with a striated border. As you see that in the lumen, there are some fold called crypts and in those crypts, there located some excretory part of mucous called Lieberkuehn crypts. In tunika mucosa, you'll also see lamina propria, some kinda loose connective tissue located right below the columnar epithelial cells. This lamina propria is full with blood vessels, lymph ducts and other cells. For tunika submucosa, it's located outer of tunika mucosa and there're some glands called Brunneri glands which in charge of making small intestine's enzymes. You can find secretory part of Brunneri glands in tunika mucosa and their excretory part in tunika mucosa towards to lumen of small intestine. For cheek cell, it's consisted of 1 layer epithelial cells (squama type). Well, that's all I can picture to you, I hope it's useful Regards, Victor Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
