Wow guys that's terrible. Gastrointestinal problems can really turn your world upside down, especially when no one can give you a valid explanation. Some people have many intolerances and/or allergies to foods. I had gluten intolerance, otherwise known, as Celiac Disease, for 3 years before I self-diagnosed myself for the lack of a better term. Confirmatory tests were run and validated what I thought, diagnosis: Celiac Disease. I am a skinny guy and I lost 20lbs, had gastrointestinal symptoms constantly including bloating, gas, constipation/diarrhea, cramping. I lost the weight simply because I could not stand to eat as much as often as what you would normally. During this time, I had numerous physical injuries in sports some of which would not heal. I was a recreational runner and my feet and legs began to hurt immensely. At one point, my ankles were the size of softballs and hurt-like hell. I could hardly walk and even then I was in intense pain. A fractured foot put a permanent end to the running, which had become a nightmare anyway. Eventually, after seeing different doctors about my feet and leg pain/swelling. An internal medicine doctor had the insight to order a bone densitometry scan. The diagnosis: severe osteoporesis; the bone density of an 80 year old man in someone only 22. However, taking fosamax, doing aquajogging (the equivalent of water running) and using a electrostimulator daily on my feet/legs, I have gotten to the point where I can function normally after 3 years. However, I still have to avoid stairs, no jumping, running or anything else crazy. But, the fact that I can stand for extended periods of time is nothing short of amazing. So, the reason I tell my story, even if the symptoms and circumstances are different, is to offer you guys hope that some day you to will resolve your current situation. Don't lose hope press on and you know yourself better than anyone else. If something obviously is not right-then its not right regardless of what some doctor or quack may tell you.

This post is mainly in relation to Naybelline. I experience bloating throughout the day especially after food and in the evenings. The pain varies from a constant ache to sharp pains mainly concentrated on either side. There are also other issues regarding bowel movements. I have had a scan and it has shown that I have cysts (poloycystic ovaries have been ruled out) I am currently waiting for an op to diagnose/treat Endometriosis. The specialists which I have spoken to and with the research I have done leads me to thinking this may be the cause. It may not be but thought it was worth a mention as Endometriosis, often before conformation, is often thought to be something like I.B.S! Hope you get it resolved!!

I have had several problems for the past 5 years and have not been able to get a diagnosis or basically any relief. I went to a gastro Dr. complaining of constipation,
I have recently been put on Perdium and charcoalCharcoal
Charcoal plus ds pills. Just this past month I have had a colonoscopy and multivitamin/mineral

Nothing has been found with the exception of cysts on the right ovary. The ovaries worried me so I did have the CA-125 blood test and it came back negative. The constipation have somewhat been relieved but I still have this huge bloated abdomen that starts at my belly button down to my pelvic bone. I have been complaining for the last 5 years about the severe abdomen pain, constipation and gas. It has been so bad at times that I have had to unbottom by skirt/pants. At one time I measured in the am and directly after lunch and on a mild day my ab grew 3 inches and that was on a "good" day. My problems usually occur directly after lunch. I usually eat salads, soups, chicken. No burger and fries or heavily seasoned or spicy foods. I have had several worse days. I have tried to self diagnose myself with celiac sprue as well as Candida and have followed a desperate diet of carb elimination. I was successful for a while and then all symptoms came back. 1 1/2 year ago I had several tests done including thyroid, flexible sygmoidoscopy, berium enema, upper GI, cat scan, and ultra sound. NOTHING! Not only does this control my life at times (5 out of 7 days) but I follow a strict exercise program and most people would not even think I do a situp. I seem to hold onto 20 some extra pounds in the last few years. I work out 5 days a week for 1 1/2 hours every morning consisting of running 20 minutes, alternating 45 minute classes of biking and weight training. Plus walk 3 miles every night after work. My pain is not located strictly on the right side which is the question I am always asked. I would say it is usually on the left and when pressed above my belly button besides the cramping and sharp pains in the lower ab when the bloating begins. What is my next step. I am desperate and am contemplating on going to the emergency room the next time it is severe.

HI there - so happy to have found you all. I have all the same symptoms as you do and it really is sooooo frustrating. One thing I have noticed is that it gets worse when I am stressed out - I am in the process of moving right now so my stomach is terrible. Last year I started Bikram yoga and became obsessed with it - I ended up going 5 times a week for 3 months - very quickly after starting my stomach became normal! Unlike with other exercising, biking, running etc - it has sometimes helped a little but not nearly enough. YOGA released the stress and my stomach was amazing.. Of course keeping up that schedule was not going to work and I stopped completely - 5 months later I am back to square one and thinking of doing a different kind of yoga that is more gentle - will let you know how it goes.

Last night I decided this was stress related - I ate what I wanted for dinner (took the usual laxatives) and have woken up with my stomach really good - which will last until lunch time. During an episode yesterday I felt like the biggest person on the planet - I weigh 145 pounds and 5'6'' - so that is clearly not the case - but with the amount my stomach was bloated it was insane - my mind went a little loopy too!!

Hang in there - stay positive - we will find the answer - of which I believe is connected to the mind and our levels of stress. The more stressed we are about the condition the worse it is!! My heart goes out to all you who are suffering - will keep you posted about starting the yoga again..

I also have had this problem lately. It turns out it is my gall bladder and I will be having it removed tomorrow. I strongly recommend that any body with this problem get it checked out and don't give up until you have an answer.

What is the best diet pill available to buy without doctor's prescription? I'm looking to lose a bit of weight and I am going to start exercising daily. I need a diet pill that will help me lose weight quickly but I'm not a big fan of pills that work as laxatives but any personal experiences would greatly help aswell.

There are certain tests that can be done to identify the causes of the above . I suffer from occasional bouts of IBS and stomach bloating whether I eat or not. There are many different causes for bloating.

1. Water retention. Try drinking cranberry juice and eat bananas and reduce salt intake
2. Liver toxicity (can cause weight gain). Acid imbalance can affect digestion. Try a glass of tepid water with a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon 20mins before eating breakfast to help flush toxins out of the liver. Drink plenty of water during the day. Avoid processed foods with preservatives, colourings and sugar substitutes and opt for fresh fruit, vegetables and wholegrains.
3. Blockage in the intestine - a barium swallowmeal examination may need to be done and/or ultra sound, CT scan of stomach (will also exclude problems with gallbladder, pancreas etc) A gastroenterologist will arrange this, or your GP.
4. Stomach ulcer - stomach pain, feeling of fullness may be caused by a stomach ulcer.
5. Diabetes - my Dad's stomach bloated up to an enormous size just before he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. You should get a blood test done and urinalyisis to exclude this as a possibility, especially the person who has problems with frequent urination?
6. Gluten intolerance - avoid foods with gluten as this can be a cause of tiredness, digestion problems, problems absorbing vitamins which are necessary for healthy liver function and digestion.

You could try a course of probiotics like acidophilis and bifidis to aid healthy digestion. A good multivitamin will help if you're feeling run down and tired. Don't go on extreme diets to try and remedy the problem! Stick to a balanced healthy low fat, low GI healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables - preferably fresh from your garden or GE free from the grocer. Stay away from takeaways and high-fat high sugar foods - these are the primary cause of weight gain! Also make sure you're not overeating. Too much food can stretch the stomach. Stick with small servings with things like meats, poultry and dairy products. You can eat as many vegetables as you want. Two pieces of fruit a day is recommended because fruit is high in sugar.

Hope this helps

Hi,
I watched a Dr. Oz show the other day and on the show they discussed the problem of excessive bloating and weight gain along with the bloating. According to Dr. Oz it is a possible sign of ovarian cancer. It isn't always associated with that but can be an unusual sign of it. There was guest on the show who said for a long time she would gain and bloat so much that she look 5 months pregnant, and then her doctor found the real cause and she was treated and was just fine. So go check with your doctor to be safe! I hope it isn't this and something else but its something that should probably be check for. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Maybe it's time to try out some homeopathic herbal products.

Hey my name is Karen,
I tested positive for Celiac's Disease May of 2009. I went on to the Paleo Diet, and that helped me so much it was like night and day. Literally.

There was one symptom that hasn't yet resolved. I am severely distended on a regular basis. I gained 30 lbs in 6 months out of NOWHERE. I am losing my sanity trying to make sense of what is going on.

I can tell you with 100% certainty, I make the best food choices possible because I am on the Paleo Diet. If you read into it, you'll know the brilliance of it. Thepaleodiet.com

So I'm wondering, what the hell is going on with this pregnant stomach thing? It's obviously food related, but I puff up after eating a banana or broccoli. It's absurd.

All gluten, dairy, salt, and legumes have been taken out of my diet, but this is persisting. Therefore, I am inclined to think it's more organic than that.

As soon as I can, Im going to try to get H. Pylori testing. I can't make sense of anything else. Ill report back later.

I wonder if there is common thread here to some of the cases....does everyone here use a laptop at bedtime...on your lap or stomach?
Or keep a cell phone close to your hip?..in a purse?

Is it always on?
