Stomach bloating and weight gainModerator: BioTeam Re: Stomach bloating and weight gain
This story sounds unbelievable. So much so that I question the type of medical advice you are getting. Pooping once a month is very life threatening and I question any doctor who would say different. Are these Md's really doctors? This is just too incredible to believe. Are you going to MD's or alternative health doctors? Are you telling the whole story, something does not sound right here.
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainYes I am telling the whole story. Yes I am telling the truth. Yes I am going to real doctors. The last one was a GI specialist, who was the one who told me at least I know I'm not going to die from it. Yes it sounds incredible, that is why I am so frustrated. This same GI doctor told me that 'no matter what you might read on the internet, you are not going to become toxic from not having a bowel movement.' I told my husband, I don't care what he says, you can't tell me that keeping all that waste in my system for so long isn't toxic in one form or another. So, at this point, I would take advice from an alternative health doctor, because the real MDs aren't helping me at all. I have only been to "real MDs," I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for anything else, but I DO appreciate the suggestions on this forum, even if they aren't from an MD, because I am at my wits end!
Are you anorexic or bulimic? Are you on a liquid diet. Once a month for a movement is not normal and should raise concern of any professional. Take a look at this link, and I suggest going to a different doctor.

Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainMichael, no I am not anorexic or bulemic. I eat normally. No I am not on a liquid diet. I eat normal meals. I know it is not normal, but that is all that I can get out of doctors. The regular MDs say it is normal for me...I took that with a grain of salt, but when I went to the GI specialist and he basically said the same thing, and that there was nothing they could do for me, I got angry at the doctors. I thank you very much for the website...I will look it over now.
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gain
I just do not see how a doc would say a once a month poop is normal. This astounds me, and I do not know what to say. If you must, go to another town and seek a doctor who can help. This is not normal.
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainSOME ANSWERS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE
I had similar problems in the last years, now I am almost "normal" again..... First, I would recommend you all to visit an alternative doctor, like a chinese doctor. There is some other diseases that are not so well diagnosed by alopatic doctors. I went to a gastroenterologist and he couldn't make anything. He diagnosed me with IBS. IBS: All alopatic doctors say that when they don't know what you have My life was out of balance and soon my body came out of balance, there is always a relation with our lifestyles and our health. I developed an Candida infection almost all over my body because of stress, if you have vaginal discharge, it is almost sure you have candida. This bacteria invades all the organs and the joints too. Nothing works properly in the body, you might also develop allergies to several foods, I had allergy to gluten, nuts, milk products and others. Now, all my allergies are gone. My solution was: . strict diet for a few months (plain brown rice, steamed veggies and green juices) . homeopathic medicine .acupuncture .solving the issues were making me stressful, putting new limits and make changes in my life and relations (this was the most important thing) I keep having a healthy diet and can't overeat not one inch. I am a happy vegan, I enjoy very much eating as natural, fresh and raw as possible. You won't die, you won't develop iron or B12 or protein insuficience if you inform yourself and take care of your meals, you can be healthy and happy again if you are eager to MAKE REAL CHANGES. Gabriel Cousens is a very good author to read about new ways of eating and solutions for digestive issues. good luck and many health vibes, Daniela
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainHi everyone,
It's so great to know I'm not alone. I gained 40 lbs within 6 months or so and I bloat so badly that I look pregnant. I exercise regularly and closely watch what I eat and how much I eat. However I still remain heavy and bloated. My thyroid has been tested and the tests came back negative. I went to the gynecologist and we figured out that I most likely have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), in which one of the symptoms is rapid weight gain due to hormonal imbalance. So ladies, instead of looking at your digestive system, go see your gynecologist. It could be your hormones causing the weight gain (and the horrid bloating that comes along with it). Trust me, I know how you feel and I empathize with you. Keep your heads up; someday the medical professionals will figure out what's really causing this!
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gaini am right where everyone else is. i am 51 yrs old. always had stomach problems. not having a bm for over 1 month unless taking some kinda laxative. i can eat a sandwich and it feels as though i have ate a full course meal. i am told i have a nerous stomach, ibs..it just get worse. no problem of a morning, but come evening i look as though i'm 7 mo pregant..i need help
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainI think you have to seek some medical help right away to reduce some kind of unexpected problems for that gain weight and stomach bloating...
Re: Stomach bloating and weight gainit is nice to be able to read about others with the same problem as i. i have had this bloatin problem for a while. i started noticing it over a year ago, but i did not start gaining weight until the last year. i have always been consistent with my weight around 136, then i went up into the 40's and now i am 163. i can't believe it. i think some of my eating habits have been bad like eating fast food (french fries, for one), but most of my diet is good but this is the first time in my life i have gained weight like this. i have never been over around 140. yes, after i eat sometimes, i look like i am six-seven months pregnant. my gyno has done two ultrasounds. i had a small cist on my ovary that is shrinking. sometimes the pressure after i eat or sit for a long period of time, and the gas that is trapped is so intense. i have had a problem sitting in meetings for more than a couple of hours; this causes very uncomfortable bloating and gas problems. anyway, i am trying to lessen my food intake and be aware of what kinds of food i consume. i tend to eat a high fiber diet; veggies and binto beans, and soy. my gyno said some of these are culprits. i plan to go to a chinese herb doctor, and/or go to naturalpathetic medicine. fennel seed, and peppermint are suppose to be good. i believe menopause has something to do with it. i just turned 50 in jan. and am in menopause now. doc said hormones imbalance causes sluggish digestion. i also take Align now which helps. try it. melissa in northern arizona
