Transpiration and wind speed.Moderator: BioTeam

Transpiration and wind speed.Hiya, I'm doing a planning exercise on transpiration where we compare the effect of a named factor (I've chosen wind) on the rate of transpiration in 2 different plant species.
We've been told that one of the plants should be in adapted to living in arid conditions (xerophyte) and the other should not. The problem is I know nothing at all about plants. I was wondering if anyone could suggest two species of plant that would be suitable for this experiment. I plan on using a potometer to carry out this experiment as thats the method suggested but I don't actually have to do the experiment. I hope that makes sense, if you could even point me in the direction of a website then that would be a great help. Thankyou x If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
ooh this is very interesting, I will BBL
this is just my before work coffee peek ~Lynne "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these".

OK just a quick check in,
My first thoughts were tundra/alpine and shelterd valley woodland plants. so amongst them you will have to pick what you can attain localy for yout study. Righty, well I think tundra is out but sheltered woodland should be easy enough
Thankyou, you've been a great help ^_^ If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
And, plants with blue color are a good choice too.
They have a waxy coating that protects them. "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these".

Like Aloe Vera? That has a blue tint I think =S Not much of a gardener I'm afraid ^^;

I was thinking of some species of Dianthus.
I found this web site for you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/htbg/module1/wind1.shtml "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Oooh, thankyou very much
Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
