Re: Industrial Society Destroys Mind and EnvironmentCongrats!! The most long-winded, pedantic pile of garbage I've seen on this site.
A non-sensical one line post.
Is this all you are capable of writing?????? The content of the thread is beyond your level, beyond your grasp, beyond your capacity to understand. Would you like to discuss / debate any point mentioned in the thread???????
Sushil, whatever you are saying looks like you want to take human race in past where we originated. If you start doing so you will find human mind can not remain bound to Food, cloth and shelter alone. It always search for challenges and once completed will search for new. That's how we have evolved.
Being powerful and to win every challenge is the prime motive of human mind. We could live simple lives along with technology. What we call as "Sustainable Living". But to do so everyone has to realize its basic needs and how much one need to survive. After all its difficult, and not nature's rule to. Greed will be one reason of extinction on our species, which a rule of nature's cycle in fact. By Polluting air, water and by destroying ecosystems we are not destroying nature at all (human is not that great) we are just following nature's big cycle of origin and extinction of species. Bitter Truth! Who says reason for world war IV will be Petrol? Reason lies in two words "Me and Mine".
sachin,
Thanks for your views. Development is Destruction. Material Development has destroyed all ecosystems. If any kind of Development was needed it was Spiritual Development. In India and some other countries people spent thousands of years to understand subjective states of mind and developed techniques and methods that could make the mind calm, quiet, tranquil and peaceful....... the practice of yoga and meditation led to spiritual development / evolution. In just 250 years Industrial Society has destroyed what nature created in millions of years. A pure non-industrial society is not possible now because Industrialization has increased world population to 7 billion. If we want to save the remaining environment we must minimize the things that destroy environment. At present we are destroying environment for Food, Clothing, Shelter plus Thousands of Industrial consumer goods and services. We must eliminate the things that were added last to the list......which means Thousands of consumer goods and services, most of which have existed for only about 100 years out of Hundreds of Thousands of years of Total Human Existence on earth .........these have to be eliminated or minimized. Industrial Activity must be primarily limited to Food, Clothing and Shelter......And even in these three fields production and consumption must be kept to the minimum. sushil_yadav Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment
Re:
Now this is very true Sushil. Take our magnificent new 'green' 'long life' light bulbs. A 'solution.' Hardly! They use less electricity initially but because they deteriorate so rapidly, (I have one that is literally 4 candle power,) they either have to be replaced as frequently as the old ones, or you use twice as many. Coupled to which when you do have to dispose of them after a year or so they are full of poisons and far more bulky than the old ones.
Re: Re:
animartco, You are right. When we make consumer goods we destroy environment.....when we make consumer goods we destroy animals, trees, air, water and land....directly or indirectly. Environment cannot be saved by changing Technology......It can only be saved when we don't make consumer goods. An analogy ....... Some people are shooting a person with a gun. Sometime during the shooting they think about saving the person.....the right way to save would be to stop the shooting....but they don't stop the shooting.....they say we will save the person by changing the technology.....by changing the gun....they change the gun and continue shooting, hoping to save the person. sushil_yadav Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment
...such an enlightening topic (but I think none takes it seriously lol). That is what technology and modernization brought to the entire humanity: greediness. People never got contented; always ask for more without even thinking what the effect of this changing environment was. If only someone will see our world outside and have a comparison on what it looks like before, the big difference was talking.
