bainbridge reflex

I am confused about the bainbridge reflex and barorecptors effect on HR. Bainbridge responds to increased atrial volume( ie, increase venous returen) or atrial distension and it actually increases heart rate in turn. The barorecpetors on the other hand feel the strech and increased blood return and decrease heart rate. How does the body know which one to actually activate given that the initial stimuli is the same for both systems?
