Fish skin = nutritious?

Postby hurly » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:49 pm

Some people can't stand fish skins and don't eat it.
My question is what nutrition do they contain? Are all the nutritions in the skin or in the fish meat...?

Thanks :)

Might be high in minerals in fish that can change their skin color, but generally, i don't think it is that nutricious. Eat the meat, that is good for you

if we check it from the terminology, fish 'skin' (scale) is derived from it's dermis which undergo some kinda like osification..so, maybe like Andrew said, high in minerals..

oh!
do not eat it. i think fish skin has scales below it. and it is kind of bone, i.e. derivate of epythelium.
i think we can not eat it. and because it composition is the same as the sheel of bivalvia.
is there some thing can be ate from those shells? none.
but at some condition like if you only eat the skin without the scale... hm... delicious.(^ ^) crispy!
hey you are not talking about jelly fish, right? :?

No... I dont think that we're talking about jelly fish... Do cat fishes have scales... Because when I catch them, they are usually really slimy and not scaly. By the way my grandma used to say that the best part of a fried fish was the eyes... After I tried them she began to laugh... They're not good...
