Alternative splicing

Postby spontex98 » Sun Oct 01, 2017 4:46 pm

We know that mRNA splicing occurs while transcription is in progress. But what about alternative splicing? Does it take place during transcription or after transcription has taken place? Thanks in advance!

May be I am wrong but I believed that alternative splicing is the same thing that splicing. Only in alternative splicing, splicing is different in various types of cells. So the protein corresponding to the same gene will be different in lung and liver for instance.
