Dopamine

Postby protozoan » Fri Mar 18, 2005 2:05 pm

Do anybody know any failures about this neurotransmitter, I know parkinsons desease and schyzophreny, but i want to know more, more, many more. I want to know every desease which is caused by malfunction of that neurotransmitter.
Thanks

You mean Dopamine  Maybe Tourette's syndrome http://web.sfn.org/content/Publications ... ettes.html
Maybe alcoholism :? (and therefore maybe any addiction)

But can you call addiction a disease??
You'll have to read that one more closely as it looks like an hypothesis.
Dopamine-responsive Dystonia (whatever that is? I'll leave it for you to read))
http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic618.htm
Maybe a link with migraines
http://www.meds.com/conrad/aash/peroutka.html
Thats just from a quick search on google.

These have a link with dopamine but you'll have to check whether they are caused by a malfunction of dopamine.
Hope that helps :)

Most people with ADHD display low levels of neurotransmitters. Ritalin is used to block dopimane receptors.
