What makes Vestibular schwannomas so common?

Postby GM18 » Tue Jan 19, 2016 10:25 am

Why are schwannomas so frequent in the vestibular nerve? Are they really more common in the vestibular nerve than in other nerves? If so, what makes the vestibular nerve special? Have any pathophysiological mechanisms been identified, to explain the high frequency of schwannomas in this location?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
