Colour BlindnessHey does anyone know anything about colour blindness ie the mechanics of it. I did look it up but there was just a really odd diagram whick totally confused me.
Is it really genetic cos my uncle is colour blind and nobody else in our whole family is Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
It is genetic. Recessive. Carried on the chromosome X.
Your uncle's mother is a carrier (only female can be carriers). Means she is not color blind but carries that gene. If your uncle's grandmother and grandfather are not color blind too, then his grandmother is a carrier; and your uncle's grandmother has given it to your uncle's mother -this may sound confusing, if you couldn't understand let me know. You know for a male child, father gives Y and mother gives X. So, your uncle's mother gave the X which carries color blindness. Y does not have an effect on that. So your uncle is color blind. And If he has children, his daughter is a carrier and his son is healthy. That is basically like this. Ask again if something is unclear. It matters not how strait the gate

First of all your uncle is your mother's brother or father's brother?
And are you female? It matters not how strait the gate

Your mom can be a carrier, and so you can be a carrier too. But those are possibilities. Nobody can say that for sure.
