Sucrose PLEASE HELP!!!Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could confirm that the scienfic name for Sucrose is either glucosylsucrose OR
alpha-d-glucopyranosly beta-D-Fructofuanoside??
From one of my books: (It is similar to the second one, but not the same):
alpha-D-glucopyranosyl (1-2) beta-D-fructofuranoside It matters not how strait the gate

Actually, basically DrStein's and mine are the same. (If I'm not mistaken) It tells that 1st carbon of glucose is binded to 2nd carbon of fructose with different notations.

According to sigma the synonims are:
α-D-Glc-(1→2)-β-D-Fru α-D-Glucopyranosyl β-D-fructofuranoside β-D-Fructofuranosyl-α-D-glucopyranoside D(+)-Saccharose Sugar Glucosyl sucrose is another sugar build as : Glc-Glc-Fru Patrick

Copy paste from sigma website. Otherwise just find the correct ASCII coding... I don't know it α and β, but its alt-0181 for µ and alt-0186 for º Ovious eh? Patrick
