According tp the theory of evolution, yes.
"As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Thats good to know. whywould people believe in god?

this is a science-based forum. we do not allow discussions about religion. We do allow OBJECTIVE and peaceful evolution-creation debates

Also nobody says that we are apes for 3 reason:
1. We evolved from a common ancestor with apes, not apes 2. We are closer related to chimps than to apes 3. Taxonomically the genus Homo comes before Pan(Chimp) so it would be Homo sapiens/Homo trogolydes not Pan sapiens/Pan trogolydes Sadattay, Whattata Respec.
theres only a 2.4% difference in DNA between us and chimpanzee's
and i can garuntee you that all our DNA sequence are about 99.9% combatible, and yet we look soo different! in a manner we are still monkey in shape cos we are supposed to be hunched on the ground and and moving on our hands and feet, if you look at the circulation of our blood it was designed to be that way, were making it harder for our hearts by standin up cos its an uphill struggle getting blood from your big toe to ya heart when you stand up straight also some people believe that the evidence that shows us evolution happened was planted by the devil!!! then again thats a small extremist catholic group there are many that beleive the 7 days in genesis actually represents the billions of years of evolution, and that God has been working hard to make what is now seen today and i spose we are now in day 7, the rest period
I have heard people claim that evolution is the devil's work, but I have never heard a Catholic say that. The people that made that claim to me were mostly fundamentalist Christians, a group that tends to hate Catholics almost as much as they hate Satan himself. Remember, Pope John Paul II publicly acknowledged evolution, and he was not the first pope to do so. There are Catholics of course who don't accept evolution, but the Church's acceptance of it does cause those people to admit that it's possible. Sorry if I seem a bit defensive, but as a Catholic that statement struck a sensitive chord in me.
I agree with everything else you say, though. As for the seven days, the Bible does say that a day and a thousand years are the same to God, Who is timeless. And a day is only a relative unit depending on the rotation of Earth; it's different on Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc. Who knows how long a day is to God?
the 2.4% difference of which you speak represents tens of thousands of base pairs. How do you propose that all of this new information gradually changed to form a human?
1. I believe you're mistaken... please post the evidence. 2. Even if that was an accurate statement, what does it prove? Homology, whether phenotypic, or genetic, is a very weak argument for common descent.
