What purpose is served by cutting the onion into
very small pieces??..... when you extract DNA from onions, why do we need to cut it to small pieces.

*In any biochemical analysis procedure you want to optimise the conditions for the assay. When you cut up your sample into very small peices you are Increasing the Number of Sample Particles which in turn increases the surface area for the chemical reagents to extract the DNA from. You will increase the amount of DNA that is extracted by grinding up the onion leaves into teeny tiney pieces.

Bon chance!

I imagine it is kinda like squeezing orange juice out of an orange. You'll get more juice if you chop it up.
Nothing lasts forever...so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, take chances & never have regrets because at one point what you did was what you wanted.

For increasing surface area.
