When Do Human Physically And Mentally Reach Adulthood?

Postby Silverbackman » Wed Dec 07, 2005 10:36 am

Human reach sexual maturity at the age of 12 or 13. Sexual maturity however is not a mark of adulthood, not only in humans but in most animals according to wiki.

When do humans in terms of biology reach adulthood? Most countries think this age is 18, while there other countries that think the adulthood age is as low as 13! In other cultures it can be is high as 21. In Iran it is regarded as 15 while in Japan it is considered 20.

What is the true age? (or around the true age)?

I don't think there is a age that says "You are now a adult." Please do not forget that we are humans and we are not figures. You can't say: "Once you are 17 years old and 7 month and 8 days you are a adult", this is becuase that only applies to figures.

Another point is that everyone is different. Someone might grow really fast and has a "adult" body at 15 while someone grows slowly and have a "adult" body only at 21. So there is no standard age of adult.

In conclusion, there is no age that marks the adult line as we are all different and grow and different rates.

P.S. If you mean true age of the law, i would recommend you to look it up on the internet

I would have to say about 10-13 years.
Biology as in adulthood? Would you mean thier prime?
The most active, thriving, or successful stage or period.

I would have to say somewhere between 15-25.
Mainly because if you break a bone it heals, if you get hurt, you heal, if you get sick, you heal..
However not until around 18-19 does a person develop well in muscular structure.

During these years, mental and physical strength are very good.

You get the flu for instance, a child wouldn't have the mental strength to put up with it, an older adult wouldn't have the physical strength to put up with it.

This isn't just a biological thing though, because culture also influences what people call adulthood. People can get married at 14, women in older times would get married at 12.

That doesn't mean they are physically adult or even mentally.

I haven't been sick since Jan or so. Ownage! I'm either in my prime right now, or I'm so insane that the stress has pushed my immune system up a few notches to where it levels off.

Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.

So humans do not develop a muscular structure till they are 18-19? So in other words humans are not fully developed until they 18-19? In that case humans physically reach adulthood 18-19, right? Is there any other physical development after 18-19 years once humans develop a muscular structure.

When can a human think and analyze like most other adults do you think? 18-19 or younger?

Actually, growth goes on till 21. It slows down as you get older, and looks like stopped at 18 but doctors say that you still grow till 21. But I'm talking about physical growth.
Mental growth depends on the person. I know people who can make really good decisions at 14-15. Whereas, there are people, who are mentally child at the age of 30-35. But as a general thing we can say that female become mentally(and also physically) adults earlier than male.

Well yea, people have been known to grow up to even 25! I am talking about when a human fully develops in all aspects besides length. Would this physical adulthood happen at 18-19?

Yea mentally its always hard to tell.

Thay say growth goes on slowly after 18-19 too. But I think this also depends on when you experienced puberty.

I think, as I said before, it depends on the age you become a teenager. Maybe if i starts at the age of 9 you may reach adulthood earlier.

What is the earliest and latest a person becomes a teenage? And after how many years after a person starts his/her teenage on average does a person reach adulthood?

Hard question. Ages differ in a wide range. I don't know the exact info.
