Mitochondrial DNA

Correct me if im wrong but, the mitochondrial dna of a human female is the same to that of her mothers right? if that was true wouldnt all human females have the same mitochondrial dna??

yes your first sentence is right but all human carry the same DNA with her or his mother. ( I mean males have mitochondria too. :) ) . about your second sentence: why? all human females are relatives?

how can we not be all relatives?? even then wouldnt we have like 1000 variations of mitochondrial dna??

Well, take in mind that humans did not evolve from apes yesterday to humans today. This happened gradually and you can not state how many "primary humans" they were. We literally breeded with monkeys for a long time. So you see, there are a lot of types of mithDNA, even theoretically...

we are not all relatives of course, as Andrew said there are many differences.

this means that the metabloic rate of the daughter is the same as the mother relative to the age they reach?

I depends on diet, activity levels, heredity, and a couple other things that aren't as important and I forget what they are due to their unimportance.
