try this site, you'll find all brief info about amoebas:
http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/ind ... moeba.html Life is not of comedy but tragedy, life lives and then dies in sorrow
I have done some research on ameba, mostly pathogenic organisms. The best site I have found for the study of these organisms is http://www.bms.ed.ac.uk/research/others/smaciver/amoebae.htm
My research involved mostly Acanthamoeba and Naegleria, both are deadly pathogens which occur naturally in our environment and are classified as BSL II (Biological Safety Level II) organisms. Should you begin to culture and study these organisms I would advise acquiring and following the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) related to the handling and storage of BSL II organisms.
