Genetics in classification of bacteriaWell i'd like to know the role of genetics in bacterial classifications couse i am making an essay about the issue and i can't find any sources on the web so info or sources would help me

this is often done by looking at the sequence of ribosomal genes.

WellWell thx for your help but this is not what i meant by genetics
i meant classical genetics transformation transduction and conjugation how did they use them in classification of prokaryotes esp. Bacteria
... thats hard because classification of bacteria is usually done by examining the s16 rRNA unit because its sequence is conserve enough to be compared but random enough to have some variations. In terms of transduction and those kinda bacteria "sex" processes, the only one i can think of is interupted mating which is used to map plasmid genes... maybe that has sometihing to do with classifing bacteria ? Also different types of bacteria take in DNA or other genetic material differently during transformation (e.g. either take it in as dsDNA then regrade it in the cell or as ssDNA) mabye stuff like this can help classicfication
