Help with unknown

Postby kayleighat » Sun Oct 20, 2013 2:43 am

Hi, I would just like some feedback for my unknown bacteria. I think I have narrowed it down to Salmonella Enteritidis but my books do not have a lot of information on it. Can anyone tell me what they think? Here is the list of possibilities:

Neisseria lactamica
Pseudomonas flourescens
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Burkholderia/Pseudomonas caryophylli (new Genus designation & previous- will find info under both)
Alcaligenes faecalis
Alcaligenes latus
Enterobacter aerogenes
Enterobacter cloacae
Serratia marcescans
Serratia rubidaea
Escherichia coli
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Klebsiella oxytoca
Morganella morganii
Salmonella enteriditis
Salmonella typhi
Shigella flexneri
Shigella sonnei
Proteus vulgaris
Proteus mirabilis

Here are the test results I ran for my unknown:

It is a Gram-negative bacillus facultative anaerobe
Motility +
Citrate +
MR - (Unsure of the MRVP results, so not using it as a reliable test)
VP -
Sulfur -
Indole -
Catalase +
Oxidase/Kovac's -
EMB plate showed a maroonish color
Mannitol and gas +
Glucose and gas +
Lactose -
Phenylalanine -
Nitrate to nitrite +
Amylase -
Protease for casein (Unsure)
Gelatin -
Urea -

Thanks in advance!!
