Innova 4000 Benchtop Incubator Shaker

Postby katuss » Sun Sep 08, 2013 2:54 am

I started cultivation of E coli JM 109 in innova 4000 Benchtop Incubator shaker at 5.00 pm. E coli were shaken overnight at 170 rpm and 37 degree celsia. Now I am at home and read, that we have always shaken E coli at 150 rpm overnight. Please could the cultivation at 170 rpm overnight damage my E coli or the incubator. I am affraid of overheating the incubator. Should I stop it ? Thank you very much.

170 rpm should be fine both for your E.coli and for the incubator. The only problem could be if your cultivations were big (like several hundreds of ml) and you used speed over 180 rpm if your flasks are on stickers.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
