Some transfer rna can regognise more than one amino acid

Also is that got anything to do with the degeneracy of genetic material

no, this has to do with promiscuity of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases ( http://www.nobelprize.org/educational/m ... noact.html ). Anyway, I think the naturally occuring aa-tRNA synthetases are pretty specific.
