Durability of steedman's wax embedded samples for FISH

I have samples embedded in Steeman's wax three years ago. The FISH I conducted with these samples at that time worked really good. Now three years later I tried to make another FISH but it didn't work. Does somebody know, if maybe my embedded samples are too old - maybe the ribosomes are degraded?
