UV Effect on cell pigmentation (melanocytes)

Does UV level increase the rate of pigmentation in skin? ( Stimulation of melanocytes...)

Or if the UV level is high enough, ie 4 and above, is pigmentation purely based on time exposure to sunlight if the UV level is 10+.

And would this be the same for pigment in the lips/mucous skin tissue?

it is based on the intensity of vu rays as the pigment melanin is purely designed for protection from uv rays is is deffinetey effected by the intensity of the light
