DNA - Need urgent help for essayMust write essay within next 30 hours outlining these questions.
QUESTIONS:: What is the genetic material called DNA? Where is it found? What does it do? How does it do what it does?-Protein Synthesis Why are bacteria so useful to geneticists? Outline their important structures. To what use are bacteria put? What do they make/do with them? Research one in detail. Explain in your own words how the process works. How important do you think their contribution has been? Thanks in advance!!!!!! *My head is a box full of nothing, and that's the way I like it*(Ben Lee,Catch my disease from album Awake Is The New Sleep)
*If I listen to the sound of white, sometimes I hear your smile and breathe your light* (Missy Higgins,The Sound of White)
1)DNA is a genetic material because it contains all the information importants for sinthesis of proteins and in general for cell life; infact it's called life molecule, and it can be tranferred from a cell mother to a daughter cell and from an father organism to a son.
It's situated in cell nucleus. 2)The information of DNA isn't useful if remains in nucleus of cells: it can functional if is transformed in proteins; infact DNA codes for proteins. To do it, information must be transformed in mRNA, in a process called transcription and made by the enzyme RNA polymerase, and then translated in protein; the translatin is done by a protein called ribosome, the mRNA and an other RNA, called tRNA that carries AA: ribosome knows every codon and tRNA adds the right AA. Bacteria are used expecially in cloning experiment and for sequencing DNA, or to extract and purifing proteins.... it's possible because they have a particular DNA thatt is circular, called plasmid. In the plasmid you can insert DNA fragments by opening it by restriction enzymes and then closing plasmid with fragment by ligases; and let them grow to create multiple copies; or alternately they can be easly cultivated and lysed to extract their DNA with insert; DNA extracted and purificated can be amplficated by PCR. http://www.forumbiotech.forumfree.net(In italian)
