Why do you want there to be a god, gods, or no god?

Do you have a preference? Why is that your preference?

I'm currently furnishing my understanding of what science is, and I am reconsidering some old ideas about what makes a claim testable. This reconsideration is purely analytical, it was not triggered by any interest in religion or spirituality. I lack both.

My bad... I'm reconsidering what makes an explanation for a given phenomenon the correct explanation.

When two people devise different hypotheses with identical predictions, we can't just say, "Well, they thought of their hypothesis first." There are rules that apply here. This is what I'm thinking about, and this is what is making me reconsider what science is.
