a fruit is a ripe ovary, whereas a seed is... a seed (or egg?)... I think, im not to good at botany.
wouldn't the seed have stored energy from the parent plant and use that to germinate?
correct me if i'm wrong :?

the first question
Seed germination use energy from starch storage in its endoderm
Except for orchid, orchid seed just have an undifference embryo so to germinate, the seed must be symbiont with mycorhyzae named Rhyzoctonia. The mycorhyzae supply glucose, Phosphorous (easily absorb form) and some phytohormone.
good luck
victor, can I ask HW means?

hw means homework question.

the seed is the actual egg that can reproduce, the fruit is just the covering made of either ovary or accessory tissues.

the energy should be from the seed itself. In angiosperms it's the cotyledons. I'm not sure what happens in conifers though because my teacher skipped the chapter :(

yes the energy is from the seed itself till it buds, the inside of the seed at the tip that pointy  has oil in it, this provides the seed energy until it buds, then the seed gets energy from water and photosynthises

replacing a teacher is harder than you think, most of the couselors say "suck it up"(meaning endure it). Also he's not a bad guy, very funny. Just not teacher material.

In my country, if a teacher doesn't do his job, we sign a petition and give it to the principal and he's gone  But that is just romania. You live in country of democracy :D

One way of differentiating a fruit from a seed is by looking at their scars.

A fruit has 2 scars :
1. Scar of the fruit stalk
2. Scar of the remains of style

A seed has 1 scar :
1. Scar of the funicle (where it was attached to the fruit)

yes..!!
:o endoderm (solid and liquid)
it gets the energy from this.
it grow by the support of hormones and enzymes..

at a normal condisition, fruit has seed. but seed at sometime do not have the "outer" scar... kind the same as Navin.

hei.. then coconut is a seed or a fruit?
....
yes... it's a fruit.
