Speed of Osmosis

i have learned about the osmosis in the lab how water particles move from a high concentration to a low concentration through the permeable membrane. however there is one question that i do not know. my question is why the rate of osmosis changes as concentration of the NaCl changes. i know that when salt concentration is increasing, the rate of osmosis is decreasing. when salt concentration is decreasing, the rate of osmosis is increasing. water my teacher even agree with me. but i do not know WHY the rate of osmosis changes as concentration of the NaCl changes. can anyone tell me briefly? specifically even better. thank you so much

From my understanding, osmosis occurs to balance out the concentration of water molecules between the intracellular and extracellular environment.

So if in the inside of the cell, the salt concentration is increasing, the outside of the cell therefore has an increased concentration of water molecules (since you're moving the salt to the inside). Therefore, the rate of osmosis is slower (since the concentration of water molecules on the outside has increased, less has to be moved from inside of the cell to the outside for it all to balance out)

Conversely, if in the inside of the cell, the salt concentration is increasing, the opposite happens.

That's as best as I can explain it using words. A diagram would help, but I can't draw one on here :(
