Biophysics - Where art thou?

Dear biology-online.org,

Biology is witnessing a tremendous age of new discoveries and inventions and technologies. A large chunk of this success story belongs to a plethora of biophysical techniques - NMR, IR, X-ray cryatallography to name a few.
Anyone who has gone through any research paper, in peer reviewed international journals (like Nature, Science, etc), must have seen the amount of jargon one encounters. Especially the molecular biology papers. Each one is stuffed with all sorts of assays. Its high time that we have a platform to discuss/share/ask/... biophysical stuff.
biology-online.org, a great community of would-be-biologists, is already doing such a nice job. BUT...we still dont have a section on BIOPHYSICS.
Lets have a BIOPHYSICS section.

Wat say ppl? Wat say admin?

P.S.: It would be great if the moderators post this request in every section and make it sticky and get ppl to vote on it

Thanks for your suggestion. But how many biophysics quesitons are there in this forum? Not many. So what's the point on having a new -and empty-board?
This is my opinion. What do you guys think?

Hi,

Biophysics is a kind of subject which one generally encounters at a post-graduation level. Majority of the biology students dont tend to have a liking for maths or physics. They therefore will tend to be scared/dislike/avoid biophysics. I agree that not not many 'biophyiscal' questions are being asked. And I also think that having a section on biophysics would'nt get ppl to suddenly and miraculously get curious about biophysics. But I really feel that ppl should know about biophysics a bit before they are faced with it in there syllabi. Would having an empty section on biophysics be such an issue?
Besides, biology-online.org is googlable. A google hit on such kind of advanced topics by some real biologist might even aid in making this site popular. This would certainly aid in drawing in members who are a bit more serious about biology which would surely benefit the serious biological minority who are already members of biology-online.org.

There are many topics like biophysics: biomathematics, biostatics so on, so on, so on. If we were to make a forum for each of them, we would end up having 1000 of them. So, yes, it is kinda a big issue. I am not saying you are wrong because you aren't, but it simply isn't worth it since there have been like 2-3 questions about this since i signed on last year...
So, sorry..

That's too specific to have it on a special section, I guess. If I could have one(s), I want to have a special section for Endocrinology, Immunology, and Reproductive Biology. They are my "three musketeers"
