Xenotransplantation - the procedureHi everyone,
I'm currently doing an investigation into xenotransplantation and am finding it very hard to find the actual biological procedure. There is plenty of information on the net about the advantages, disadvantages bioethics etc, but can anyone outline HOW it is done? Possibly with a reference of some kind? Thankyou
I imagine it would be very similar to a regular transplantation - that is, it would depend a lot on what organ you are transplanting. I also think it might require stronger immunosuppression since the immune system will have an easier time recognizing it.
A few results I got from a PubMed search - although I didn't find any that are freely available, so you may have to go to a computer at a university library if you're not already a student at a university that has access): PMID 22565998, 22565996, 22566000, 22565995, 22565994, 22565986, 22457104, 18955143
