Dear forumposters,
I am working on an assignment for my dynamical systems class in College. It is a rather extensive assignment, but I will only ask about the beginning of it. The assignment is to use the Gompertz function to model and fit a certain (unspecified beforehand) type of growth. However, I have been unsuccessful in finding a useful paper (or papers) in which I can find a not-too-complicated model, along with the used data. The assignment is more of a go look for a premade model, find a dataset and fit it to it using mathematica assignment, more than anything else. I have been searching for papers in our online student library and using google scholar, but so far I haven't been able to find something that I could work with. If anyone has any suggestions for a model and or data, I would be very thankful.

Note: I did read the homework sticky; if this is too much of a do my homework for me post, please let me know.

So what exactly do you want? Find article about the function? Or find data to fit into the function?

Hm, I can't seem to find an edit button, but I have succeeded in finding the suitable model and integrating it into mathematica. However, I am still in search of a usable dataset. My search has been narrowed down a bit though, and I am now looking for a data set that contains tumor growth data over time, optimally containing data of the tumor size at the start and the carrying capacity, i.e. the maximum size that can be reached with the available nutrients. However, a data set without these would be great too; I would just have to do more fitting.
