Missing antibodyWhat could be a cause if an antibody normally present is missing or has low numbers in a sick individual? I mean molecular mechanisms leading to abscence of one particular antibody.
Re: Missing antibodyThank you for your reply.
In certain diseases, the abscence of an antibody is responsible for the abnormal phenotype. Normally, if the expression of a protein is low, is could be due to promoter CpG island methylation. I was wondering if this could be a cause for low expression/abscence of a certain antibody. I just don't see how a plasma cell could stop producing antibodies, or will they die and that results in the abscence of Ab? This is where I wanted to go with my question.. only my expertese are lowish in the immunobiology topic.
