Please who can help with this question. Am confused and stucked in it. I need help please. Any one who have any idea concerning the question; let him bring in his idea let's discuss:
Increasing specialization of structure and function among animals of the same class or order for survival in a new and different environment is called A. adaptive radiation B. phylogeny C. homology D. analogy E. ontogeny.
The A-E options are confusing. If anyone has an idea concerning the question, please let him bring it in, let's discuss it and see if we can arrive at the correct answer. Thank you.
If you say the answer is 'B', no problem. I accept, but I thought the answer is A adaptive radiation. The reason being that; I have grown up to know and understand adaptation as a term which describe how an organism posses certian features or behave in certian way to fit into their enviroment perfectly.
Now that the word 'radiation' has encrepted into the defination, am now confused. Although the right option in accordance with the answers provided at the backpage of my book is B, phylogeny, the option you (Jackbean) have chosen. That's why I have decided to forward it to the forum so that we can discuss it.
Now that you have done justice to the question, I want you or anybody else who has knoledge concerning the topic to please help define phylogeny, then go ahead and define adaptive radition. Please define the two terms seprately so that I can evaluate between the two terms and cleary see the difference.
Thank You Jackbean for the reply.
My answer is ..... A
Which means modification in organism to suit the changed environment.
Phylogeny is a method by which we can compare two organisms for their similarity and trace the origin.
Ontogeny is a study of development of organ structure in embryo, individual or even in community in special cases.

Who says reason for world war III will be Petrol?
Reason lies in two words "Me and Mine".
Sachin, you are very correct. The answer is A and never B or any other option. Among all the defination from the options given, only A relates the organism to it enviroment while the rest did not.
The word 'adaptation or adaptive' without putting radiation is enough to convey the message to me. That word 'radiation' is just there to cause confusion for some beginners.
JackBean, please get cleared that the answer is A and not B. Thank you.
