Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium?

1) the genotype has nothing to do with gene expression. That would be rather phenotype.
2) it can be some property given by being either homozygous or heterozygous that gives individuals either advantage or disadvantage. Think about sickle cell anemia in Africa. It good to have at least one copy of defective heamoglobin, since it protects you from the malaria, but it's not good to have two, because that is lethal. Thus heterozygotes will be enriched ;)

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
