Bacteria can have: cili, flagelli(correct plural) and pilli. While the structure resembles somewhat they differ in function. Cilli and flagelli are used in locomotion, while pili are used in nutrition and respiration(common pilli) and making the connection between "male" and "female" bacteria(that posses or not the F plasmid)(sex pilli). Pilli also serve as receptors for bacteriophages
