Question on Xylem and Phloem; primary and secondaryHi,
I'm a homeschooled student and am essentially teaching myself AP Biology... this may not be wise but that is what I'm doing and it is too late to change now. Anyway. Here is my question. "What is the difference in the formation of primary xylem and phloem versus secondary xylem and phloem?" What I put/am thinking, is that primary x&p is formed by primary growth and an apical meristem whereas secondary x&p is formed by the vascular cambium in secondary growth. Would you consider that an accurate/adequate answer? If not what am I missing? thanks in advance! this forum looks fantastic! M.
