Splicing isoforms

I do not understand what is meant by splice isoforms. I used to think that they are the products of alternate splicing.
But I was reading a paper on:
"mTORbeta Splicing Isoform Promotes Cell Proliferation and Tumorigenesis"
And I got confused and decided to get the basic definition right. Google wasnt very helpful either.
What does the title refer to?
1. the product (mRNA) of alternate splicing OR
2. the product (protein) of translation of already spliced mRNA

product of alternative splicing leads to alternative protein isoforms, doesn't it?

I did a quick google search and it seems that isoforms typically refer to proteins, so I believe the correct answer would be (2) - the protein product of already-spliced mRNA.
